It's Time To Get Ear Impressions

Great fitting, custom in-ear monitors start with great ear impressions. This cannot be overstated. The majority of repair requests we receive stem from poorly made ear impressions. Here are a couple of things to keep in mind when getting impressions made:

  • Please do not mail us your impressions, until you have emailed multi-angle pictures of  them to info@inearscanada.ca and we have confirmed that they meet our standards. Failure to do this will result in added expense and time. We will notify you via email whether we can use your impressions or not.

  • Your ears need to be clean. No wax build up or dirt. Your Audiologist will clean your ears if needed, but you may be assessed an extra charge if there is too much wax or debris to remove.

  • Your ears need to be free of excessive hair. Use an ear/ nose trimmer to remove the hair in your inner canal as well as the outer area of your ear.

  • Do not use previous ear impressions that are older than 4 months. The impression material will dry out and deform over time and this will dramatically effect the fit of your custom in-ear monitors.

  • It is best to wait until you are ready to purchase custom in-ear monitors before getting ear impressions done. This will ensure we get the "freshest" impressions of your ears.

  • Do not store ear impressions where they will be exposed to sun, heat or excessive low humidity.

  • Print the following Audiology Guide and bring it with you to your appointment. Make sure the Audiologist reviews it before taking your ear impressions (a good suggestion is to email this guide to your Audiologist prior to your appointment so they have time to go over it).

  • You will feel a slight discomfort or pressure when the impression material is injected into your ear canal. This is normal and indicates that the impression material is being properly injected. If you feel no pressure or discomfort, it may indicate a poor quality impression. Bring this to your Audiologist's attention.

  • Below you will find a table of recommended Audiologists that we use. Our goal is to get a list of several clinics in each Province to better serve our customers. We will add to this list regularly. If you have had a good experience with an Audiologist in the past we would love to hear from you!

  • We 3D scan your physical ear impressions and create a STL file. This file is used to manufacturer your in-ear monitors. We disregard the physical impressions after scanning. If you wish to get your physical impressions back, there is a $25.00 charge. We can email you the STL file for no charge.

  • Once you have your ear impressions done, and we have approved them (see bullet point below) you can mail them to:

                                                           In Ears Canada

                                                        21 Fresnel Lane

                                                        Sambro, Nova Scotia

                                                        B3V 0C1

  • Please do not mail us your impressions, until you have emailed multi-angle pictures of  them to info@inearscanada.ca and we have confirmed that they meet our standards. Failure to do this will result in added expense and time. We will notify you via email whether we can use your impressions or not.
